Volunteering, n. [vol-uhn-teer-ing]:

Any activity that involves spending time, unpaid, doing something that aims primarily to benefit the environment or someone (individuals or groups) other than close relatives.

Volunteering is a great way to enhance your University experience. You can make new friends, become part of the local community and develop new skills which will look great on your CV.

There are a wide range of opportunities for you to get involved with including supporting other students through to getting involved in charities and not for profit organisations in the wider community.

Volunteering counts towards Stellify. To complete the ‘Make a Difference’ section of Stellify you need to complete and record 25 hours of volunteering which benefits the wider community (i.e. not other university students). Volunteering roles that benefit other students such as PASS, peer mentoring and society committees usually count towards the ‘Step Up and lead’ section. The information about different roles listed below includes which section of Stellify each role will count towards. For more information on Stellify including all the criteria for 'Make a Difference' and a full list of the roles that count towards ‘Step Up and Lead’ go to www.manchester.ac.uk/stellify.

Volunteer Hub is our portal for applying for opportunities and recording hours completed.  Find out more about Volunteer Hub here
